As professional storytellers, my husband Harold Wright and I perform in tandem and solo. For two decades we have brought storytelling from Ohio, Ohio Appalachia and Japan to the Miami Valley and beyond. These stories come from history, folk tales, legend, myth and personal experiences.
Local people have seen us perform at R.E.A.C.H. in the spring at Sinclair College; The Clifton Opera House where we do early April and late October concerts each year with our performance group, The Yellow Springs Tale Spinners; Sam and Eddies and the Emporium through the years for book and CD signings; Glen Helen where we have volunteered with programs for years, including our seasonal benefits the YSTS; and more. Locally we have taught storytelling from a regular three credit course at Antioch College, to our yearly one credit workshop, WKS 364 at Antioch McGregor.
We are known nationally in the storytelling world for our Japanese stories and for our tandem storytelling and workshops. Last December our latest book, Spine Tingling Tales of Old Japan was published. I am currently compiling and editing a book on Tandem Storytelling, with contributors from around the world. It's publication is planned for December 2008.
I am a long time member of the National Storytelling Network, The Ohio Order for the Preservation and of Storytelling, The Miami Valley Storytellers, and The Kentucky Storytelling Association -- where I am listed on all their websites. I am a charter member and board member of the Appalachian Highlands Storytelling Coalition, headquartered in Hillsboro, Ohio. Recently, thought them, serving as director with Harold of Project Save Our Stories.
